e-opinions
People are definitely entitled to their own opinions, but someone you've never heard of posts on an egroup some offensive stuff...you can't possibly be blamed for getting riled up, right? This happened to me yesterday, and boy, was I steamed. I mean, it's okay to blow off to your friends about what you believe in, but to strangers? Not really smart. If you have the right to state your opinion, people have the same right not to have it inflicted on them. It shouldn't really affect me because this guy was a stranger and didn't really matter in the greater scheme of things, but when something fundamental to you is attacked, you can't help but feel you've got to make a rebuttal.
What's weirder is, if someone else feels they've got to accuse you of self-righteous bigotry because you very politely asked the opinionated stranger not to foist his opinions on you. Ain't this a grand world? I didn't bother to reply to that one. As I said previously, he didn't matter. At all.
